This will be the first time that Giannis Antetokounmpo and Luka Doncic will go head-to-head on the international stage, representing their respective national teams. Both stars are expected to put on a show for fans watching all over the world.
The game in early August is intended to help prepare for the FIBA World Cup 2023. This major basketball event will take place from 25 August through 10 September in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia.
The Basketball Federations of Greece and Slovenia have already secured their entry into the upcoming tournament. Meanwhile, the Slovenian Basketball Federation's president has confirmed Luka's involvement in the World Cup, with Antetokounmpo expected to suit up for Greece as well.
Both Doncic and Giannis featured at FIBA EuroBasket 2022 last September, but suffered a quarterfinal exit. The Mavericks and Bucks superstars nevertheless impressed during the tournament.
Doncic contributed an average of 26.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 2.0 steals per game.
Giannis was named to the EuroBasket First Team after he put up 29.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 4.7 assists in every contest.
