Georgia’s Comeback Win Over Ohio State: Reactions and Numbers
Just before ringing in the new year, the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs, the defending national champions, earned a trip to the College Football Playoff semifinal by beating the No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes, 42-41.

The Bulldogs have advanced to the national championship game, where they will face the TCU Horned Frogs, after a de facto home game in the CFP semifinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta.
Georgia entered today as one of three FBS teams that had yet to concede 21 or more points in any half, however that changed quickly as Ohio State took a 28-24 advantage into the halftime break. Despite being behind for the majority of the matchup, quarterback Stetson Bennett guided the Bulldogs to a fightback thanks to his efforts.
The Bulldogs had limited success on offense in the last college football game of 2022, with their total offensive production over the entire game amounting to just 77 yards in the second half. However, they were able to put together a memorable moment in the second half when Arian Smith scored a 76-yard touchdown reception to turn the tide. The play was enough to give the Bulldogs a lead of 54 and 55 seconds in the first and second halves respectively.
