Rashford starred once again as Manchester United saw off Leicester City 3-0 at home. The in-form England international hit his 24th goal of the campaign in both halves, and was also connected to Sancho's late strike. The impressive achievement is Rashford's highest goal tally while in a United shirt.

This match and its outcome keep Manchester United in the running for the Premier League title, just three points behind Manchester City, and five behind the current leaders Arsenal. Saturday's draw by Nottingham Forest enabled United to open a 10-point gap waiting to be filled by Tottenham Hotspur who play West Ham on Sunday.

Leicester City had cause for celebration following their 1-0 victory over Leicester in the Premier League on Saturday. Despite the Foxes pushing hard for an opener, it was Manchester United who claimed the three points courtesy of a Marcus Rashford goal. The win gives United momentum going into an important week, with a Europa League playoff second leg against Barcelona and the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United coming up.

Leicester were the better side in the first half, giving David de Gea plenty to do. The goalkeeper produced two brilliant saves to deny Harvey Barnes and Kelechi Iheanacho respectively, however Man United still went into the break with the lead. An error from Leicester defender Wout Faes allowed Bruno Fernandes to play Rashford through on goal, who made no mistake in finding the net.

The result leaves the Red Devils in a positive place heading into the upcoming fixtures.

Rodgers would have been hopeful of Leicester's chances had the game remained on the same trajectory, yet when Manchester United kicked their performance up a gear following the break Leicester were unable to keep up.

Fortunate luck was on Rashford's side for his second goal, which was initially identified as offside before a VAR check showed Faes to be in line with the forward for the entirety of Fred's long pass. Rashford's finish, however, was flawless.

Old Trafford was buzzing and Leicester appeared to be struggling, so United made sure of the win five minutes later. Rashford initiated the play, finding Sancho just beyond the box and the latter laid the ball off to Bruno Fernandes who crossed it right away for Rashford to net a first-time finish.

The Red Devils could have scored a lot more as Luke Shaw failed to hit the target with a decent opportunity and Ward had to come to Leicester's rescue when Weghorst was close to scoring from Sancho's brilliant play. Nonetheless, United saw out the remainder of the game, with Kobbie Mainoo making his league debut at Old Trafford during the last thirty minutes, in contentment and will now enter the upcoming crucial week brimming with optimism.

Man United have secured a 3-0 victory over Leicester City. After a challenging first half, the Red Devils came out firing in the second and have now won 13 of their 17 matches since the World Cup. They are now just three points off Manchester City in second and five behind Arsenal, who currently occupy first place.
