Luka Doncic Undergoing MRI, Out Against Warriors; Christian Wood Looking to Return

Luka Doncic will be absent from Dallas Mavericks' contest against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday. He has not gone to San Francisco with the team as he is recuperating from an injury to his right heel, which he sustained during their victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday.

Doncic has sustained another injury, a heel contusion, which has caused him to miss a game. This is his second injury in the span of one week, as just a week prior he had sprained his left ankle. An MRI was requested and there is currently no set timetable for his return.

During a Friday press conference, Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd gave no update as to when Luka Doncic would return, as the team was still waiting on the results of the MRI. He did, however, note that upon receiving the results, they would be able to provide an update on when both Doncic and his injured teammate would make their return.

Kidd spoke on the injuries sustained by Dallas Mavericks stars, Luka Doncic and Davis Bertans. Doncic, who hurt his right ankle against the Pelicans, went for an MRI scan and did not join the team for their journey. Kidd said that Doncic was feeling "pretty good" and was "relatively positive". Bertans suffered a left calf strain in the same game and, like Doncic, had an MRI but did not travel with the team.

Doncic's injury is the most worrying for the Mavericks, since he brings so much to the team. As of yet, Dallas have not triumphed in a game that Doncic has missed. In addition to him, the team have also recently been without Bertans, Maxi Kleber and Christian Wood, which has proved a difficult predicament.

Wood is close to getting back to on-court action, as he has been rehabbing a strained left thumb. He couldn't be with the team for the Warriors matchup, but he did join in on the trip to San Francisco. He had been doing full-contact drills in practice, suggesting that he could make an appearance soon.

When Doncic is not in the lineup, the Mavericks' performance has been lackluster; they're 0-6 in those games, averaging just 106.3 points. By comparison, their season average is 112.3. To overcome this obstacle, Dallas must stay together and battle hard against the Warriors, as per head coach Rick Kidd's instruction. While he's pleased with the shots they're taking, the team will have to dig deep in order to come out on top.

Kidd pointed out that it is impossible to replace Luka Doncic, and that other players will be called upon to help make up for his absence. Despite the tough circumstances, Kidd stated that all players must contribute if they are to have any hope of succeeding on their upcoming road trip, which starts at Golden State on Saturday.
