PSG lost to Rennes (Fans boo Messi in defeat at Parc des Princes)

Rennes kept their impressive record against PSG intact as they emerged victorious from the Parc des Princes with a 2-0 win. Toko Ekambi and Arnaud Kalimuendo did the damage for the visitors, who inflicted a surprise blow on the nine-point leaders. In the first half, PSG had their chances, with Kylian Mbappe being denied by a narrow offside call. However, they weren't able to break through, and Rennes would go on to win the encounter.
At the interval, the hosts were roundly booed, while Lionel Messi was facing sustained jeers from the home supporters, whose demeanour was only worsened by Kalimuendo's goal against his ex-team. Despite having over half an hour in the second half to equalise, the reigning champions were unable to do so, thus recording their first home league loss this season and giving Rennes three wins in their last four clashes with them.
Mbappe attempted to penetrate the Rennes backline during the first half, but veteran goalkeeper Steve Mandanda thwarted his efforts by denying his shots from wide angles. PSG had a depleted defence and were unable to prevent the breakthrough as Toko Ekambi found the net with his first goal since joining Rennes in January. The hosts gave away possession recklessly in midfield, allowing former PSG youngster Kalimuendo to calmly convert Chimuanya Ugochukwu’s cross and spark stunned silence with his muted celebration.
Rennes managed to hang on to their early lead and secure a win over Paris Saint-Germain after Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring in the 9th minute. The visitors had the better of the exchanges in the opening stages, and were rewarded when the World Cup champion calmly slotted past Steve Mandanda.
PSG were then unable to find a way past a resilient Rennes side and were left frustrated throughout the match. They had a flurry of chances come their way as the game wore on, but were unable to capitalize.
Kylian Mbappé had another opportunity to double the lead in the closing stages, but was denied by an excellent save from Mandanda. Lionel Messi, who was jeered relentlessly throughout the game, had the last opportunity of the match, but his long-range effort failed to hit the target.
Rennes' defensive efforts managed to prevail, and they celebrated a memorable victory at the Parc des Princes.
