Luka Doncic Sinks Late 3s to Force Double OT against LeBron James and Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers have been showing great improvements lately despite missing Anthony Davis, and this was evident when they faced the Dallas Mavericks. Throughout the game, the Lakers, fronted by LeBron James, were attempting to make up for the deficit created in the opening period, and ultimately achieved success. As the fourth quarter drew to a close, the Lakers were in a strong position to deny Doncic and the Mavericks a second consecutive loss in LA.

Luka Doncic was having none of the Los Angeles Lakers' lead late in the game. With the Dallas Mavericks trailing by three and only ten seconds to go on the clock, Doncic found himself with Dennis Schroder on his back following a lovely handoff from Spencer Dinwiddie. The Slovenian star used a between the legs snatch-back to free himself from Schroder, and he launched a three-pointer over the German guard's head with lots of time left to spare. It was nothing but net.
With six seconds left in the game, following Luka Doncic's game-tying shot, everyone at Crypto.com Arena knew that the ball would soon be in LeBron James' hands. The Mavericks had already prepared for this and Spencer Dinwiddie was ready to double-team James with Reggie Bullock, forcing him to pass off the basketball to Troy Brown Jr. for a last-ditch three-point attempt. Although the shot didn't fall, the Lakers still had a chance to win, with Doncic ultimately proving too much for them.
Tim Hardaway Jr. came up with a huge block that may or may not have been a foul, causing the game to go to overtime without a whistle from the officials being blown. Once again, Luka Doncic's incredible composure at a critical moment in the game turned out to be the difference.
In overtime, the Mavs saw themselves trailing by three with under 50 seconds remaining. Despite the Lakers having doubled Luka Doncic all evening to limit his ability to create offense, Doncic rose to the occasion yet again with an impressive stepback three in the face of Anthony Brown, which tied the score at 108-108. Neither team could score on the following possessions and the game went into an additional overtime period.
At this point, when the game is on the line, the Lakers must do everything in their power to take the ball out of the hands of Doncic and take their chances with the result.
