Investigation into Alleged Rape by PSG’s Hakimi Launched by French Prosecutors

Prosecutors in Paris have launched an inquiry into an allegation of rape against Paris Saint-Germain footballer Achraf Hakimi. This was confirmed by a judicial official on Monday.
The investigation is being handled by the Nanterre prosecutor's office.
A judicial source informed ESPN on Monday that a complaint of rape had been made against Achraf Hakimi, 24, of Paris Saint-Germain. The accuser, a 23-year-old woman, had gone to the police over the weekend and reported the incident, though she didn't wish to pursue legal action. Even so, the prosecutor's office decided to open an investigation into the case.
No commentary has been offered by PSG's officials on the matter, while Hakimi has yet to make a public statement concerning the accusation.
Hakimi, a Spanish-born right-back and key member of Morocco's team in the 2018 World Cup, did not play in the Paris Saint-Germain's victory over Marseille on Sunday due to a thigh injury.
