Disney+ Documentary on Stan Lee to Release in 2023 for Creator’s 100th Birthday
On Wednesday, Marvel Entertainment posted a 25-second video on its Twitter account revealing that a Disney+ documentary about Stan Lee will premiere in 2023, coinciding with the 100th birthday of the pioneering comic book creator.
Marvel Entertainment has announced a documentary commemorating the life and legacy of Stan Lee. Titled, "Stan Lee: An Original," the documentary will stream in 2023 on Disney+.
A teaser for the documentary was shared in an accompanying caption which read: "100 years of dreaming. 100 years of creating. 100 years of Stan Lee."
The documentary will celebrate the life of the Marvel Comics icon and his immense achievements in the superhero industry.
A newly released video shows brief clips of Stan Lee's acting roles and cameos in movies. Concluding the celebratory montage is a zoom-out that reveals an illustration of the iconic creator.
Stan Lee is renowned for being a writer-artist alongside Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, as well as for creating some of the most beloved characters in pop culture, including Spider-Man, the Hulk, Iron Man, and the X-Men. Even after his retirement from Marvel in the 1990s, Lee maintained his involvement with the company through cameo appearances and executive producer credits on various Marvel productions.
Genius Brands International inaugurated the centenary celebration of the late Stan Lee earlier this month, launching a new online store featuring three exclusive collections with Lee's brand. GBI holds the entitlements to the name, voice, appearance, signature and licensing of intellectual property applicable to Lee and has been contracted for co-producing the documentary about him.
On the occasion of Stan Lee's 100th birthday, fans paid homage to the pop-culture icon by leaving messages for him at LA Comic Con. Words like 'inspiration', 'legend' and 'hero' were repeated in tributes to his lasting impact on culture. The official Stan Lee Twitter account, managed by POW!
