Jo Mersa Marley, Grandson of Bob Marley, Passes Away at Age 31
The representative of the late musician, Jo Mersa Marley, confirmed to Rolling Stone on Tuesday that he had died at the age of 31. The cause of death for the grandson of Bob Marley and son of Stephen Marley has not been revealed yet.
Jo has joined his music royalty family, which includes Ziggy, Sharon and Cedella Marley, whose creations have been impacting the genres and entertainment industry for decades. Jamaica's Prime Minister, Andrew Holness, expressed his condolences to the family and friends of Joseph, and to the whole reggae music community via Twitter. He wrote, My heartfelt sympathies to Joseph's friends and associates and to the Reggae music fraternity and fans everywhere.

The politician added, "The passing of the 31-year-old has caused a great loss to the music industry with the next generation coming up in its place." In a subsequent tweet, Holness expressed, "As we take this time during the season of goodwill to be with our families and friends, let us mourn his loss in the hope for him to find eternal peace."
Jo continued the family tradition as a reggae and dance hall musician. In 2014, his debut EP, Comfortable, was released, and in 2020 he dropped Everlasting (Remixes). The Jamaican artist's most recent release was Eternal, a seven-track EP.
