On Friday, Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, the astronaut who famously became one of the first people to ever set foot on the moon, celebrated his 93rd birthday by tying the knot with his long-term partner. Aldrin shared the news of his nuptials via his Facebook page, announcing that the ceremony had taken place in Los Angeles.

I am pleased to announce that my long-term partner and love, Dr. Anca V Faur, and I just got married. We were wed in a small, personal ceremony in Los Angeles and are delighted and exhilarated like adolescent loves that have eloped. The post was liked and loved by over 53,000 people on Facebook and contained photographs of us as newlyweds.

On July 20, 1969, Armstrong and Aldrin of the Apollo 11 mission took giant strides in history by making their epic journey to the moon's surface. The successful completion of the mission fulfilled the promise of the late President John F. Kennedy to send a manned crew to the moon and safely return them. Michael Collins was the third team member of the milestone mission.

Astronaut Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, who flew on Apollo 11, returned to the Kennedy Space Center with his new wife, Anca Faur, to commemorate the anniversary of the moon landing on July 20, 2019. Aldrin announced on Facebook that he had married Faur, his "longtime love", in a small ceremony in Los Angeles on January 20, 2023, which also coincided with his 93rd birthday.
