Selena Gomez Has Removed Her TikTok Account

The last time Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber made the news was when they posed for a joint photo at the 2022 Academy Museum Gala. However, four months later, things took a turn for the worse. This began when Gomez posted about her over-laminated brows and there was some perceived shade from Kylie Jenner. As a result, the singer eventually decided to leave the platform altogether.


Selena Gomez recently made a bold decision to step away from social media for a while, saying that she has come to the realization that she's "too old" for such activity. The 30-year-old singer announced her departure in a TikTok live, thanking her friends and fans for their support. This isn't the first time Gomez has taken a break from social media, as she's often taken time away from Instagram in the past. However, this latest move is much more drastic, as she has deleted her profile altogether. All in all, it seems Gomez is prioritizing her own mental health above all else by making this decision.

Gomez's departure from TikTok has been the result of several days of speculation related to her relationship with Bieber. The two, who married Bieber's ex Justin Bieber shortly after their last split, have long denied any animosity directed between them, although their admirers have continuously been conflicting with each other in social media comments.

Bieber stated in a Call Her Daddy podcast last year that "there's no drama personally". Likewise, Gomez also negated reports that she was mocking Bieber in a skincare TikTok video released in the same year, writing "zero bad intentions" in the comments before deleting the content. The two then appeared to clear the air by taking pictures together. Nonetheless, appearances can be misleading.

This week, drama was once again stirred up by a video posted by Jenner, who is a friend of Bieber’s. The video of the two showing off their eyebrows was interpreted by some as a dig at Gomez, who recently posted about her accidental over-lamination of her brows. Nuha, @devotedly.yours, broke down her interpretation of the “shade” on TikTok, which caused Jenner and Gomez to respond. Jenner wrote in the comments, “This is reaching. You guys are making something out of nothing. This is silly.” Gomez also agreed with Jenner, later stating that she is a “fan” of her.
