Man Given Sentence for Slaying of Rapper Nipsey Hussle
A jury convicted Eric Ronald Holder Jr. of shooting Nipsey Hussle outside the hip-hop artist’s clothing store in March 2019. On Wednesday, he was sentenced to 60 years to life in prison.
Prosecutors argued that Holder had approached Hussle over allegations he had called him a snitch. In addition to murder, Holder was also convicted of two counts of attempted voluntary manslaughter for injuring two other men present in the incident. He was given up to 25 years for shooting H ussle, and a further 25 years for firearm enhancements, as well as an additional 10 years for the attempted manslaughter convictions.

In a letter to the court, Eric Holder Sr. expressed remorse over his son's involvement in the killing of Ermias Asghedom (Nipsey Hussle). He spoke of the agony, grief and shock his family was experiencing, adding that Eric Jr.'s mother had died only two months prior to the shooting.
The elder Holder also chronicled the hardships that his son endured during his childhood and discussed his mental health. He pleaded on behalf of his son, emphasizing that no words or apologies could make up for the loss and pain inflicted.
In July 2022, a guilty verdict was handed down in the shooting death of the late rapper Ermias Joseph Asghedom, better known as Nipsey Hussle.
The 33-year-old was shot on March 31, 2019 in South Los Angeles, leaving behind two children and a legacy as the founder of record label All Money In.
During his accomplished career, Hussle collaborated with notable artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Drake, YG, Ty Dolla Sign, Meek Mill, and Young Thug.
